How will you make a difference?
The **Senior Engineer – T4 Engine Mission Based Team** is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, and release of the next generation of the Evolution Engine Platform. This engineer will work on a focused team of high performers to directly impact customer experience of the Evolution Engine and will be responsible for tackling complex Engine system interaction problems to improve the overall robustness of the engine. This engineer will also be responsible for providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers working on Evolution Engine Mission Based Team projects across the Engine & Power Solutions team.
What do we want to know about you?
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
+ Minimum 20 years professional experience related to the design, validation, application or field service of mechanical components or systems.
+ Demonstrated understanding related to typical design and validation processes such as FMEA and tollgate-style review with a focus in mechanical design and new concept development.
+ Previous experience working with engine systems with detailed understanding of system interactions.
+ Desired expertise in medium speed diesel locomotive engines.
+ Experience with physics-based analysis tools and techniques.
+ Confident ability to present technical details to an audience of peers, expert reviewers, and executive leadership.
+ Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced, team-based environment and accommodate shifting priorities
+ Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion.
+ Desire to mentor, motivate, and contribute to the technical growth of less experienced engineers
+ Willingness to travel (10%)
What will your typical day look like?
+ Generate ideas related to system level improvements for the Evolution Engine and scope technical feasibility
+ Parter with engineers across the locomotive system to understand system interactions and define the concept for the future locomotive
+ Collaborate with the Engine & Power Systems Team to drive projects to completion
+ Complete design reviews following the tollgate process to release new Tier 4 Engine Components to the field. This includes activities such as requirements generation, detailed design, drawing release, supplier selection, PPAP release
+ Work with Engine Validation Leader and Engine Parts & Field Coordinator on validation and field release strategy
+ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a global team of engineers responsible for the design, analysis, validation, and reliability of engine/cooling systems for primarily diesel power applications.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $91100-129800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
