The Endoscopy Technician will provide technical support to nurses and physician staff members in the Endoscopy suite. They will exhibit an understanding of endoscopy fundamentals and endoscope handling, as well as infection control standards necessary to safely and effectively perform this job. The Endoscopy Technician will participate in high level disinfection, storage, and safe management of multiple types of endoscopes.
Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Endoscopy Manager and Clinical Nurse Coordinator, the Endoscopy technician will perform a variety of duties related to the care and handling of Endoscopes and will assist medical staff throughout Endoscopic procedures.
These would include but are not limited to the following:
+ Completes setup of cases in the procedure rooms
+ Assists with transport of patients between pre/post procedure areas and procedure rooms.
+ Collaborates, cooperates, and communicates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
+ Actively participates in Endoscopic procedures, working under the direction of the Registered Nurse and physician. The technician will complete therapeutic interventions such as biopsy collection, polyp removal, and hemostatic therapy modalities.
+ Taking on-call duties when the Endoscopy unit is closed. On-call responsibility will be assigned on a rotating basis, to assist staff during emergent procedures after hours.
+ Traveling to the operating room to complete urgent/emergent cases with the endoscopy team.
+ Performs care and maintenance of all endoscopes.
+ Completes all components of high-level disinfections and reprocessing of Endoscopes.
+ Participate in care and maintenance of Endoscopic Reprocessors, including management of enzymatic cleaning solutions, testing and documentation of sterilization efficacy, changing water or air filters, and troubleshooting AER issues.
+ Documents repairs to be made on equipment and initiation of requisitions.
+ Keeps service and repair logs of all endoscopes and ancillary equipment.
+ Completes stocking of procedure rooms daily.
+ Performs all duties in accordance within the policy and procedures of BID Milton and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and governmental agencies.
+ Adheres to standards of Universal Precautions.
+ Adheres to standards of Infection Control.
+ Actively participates in unit-based quality improvement activities and staff meetings.
+ Attends and/or participates in in-house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledge.
+ Works effectively and professionally with physicians and other staff on the Endoscopy Unit.
+ May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager.
+ Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent education.
+ Ability to take after hours on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
+ Hospital/Medical experience within a patient care roll for a minimum of 1 year. Endoscopy technician experience preferred.
OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong interest and ability to work within a team environment.
+ Strong time management and organizational skills.
+ Ability to work within different rolls and maintain flexibility.

Pay Range:
$22.00 - $29.61
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
