As a **Chemical Process Engineer II** here at Solstice Advanced Materials, you will provide technical expertise to ensure the operation produces product that meets all quality, cost, and efficiency requirements to a 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role will identify ways to improve safety, quality, yields, and the capability of existing processes while also assisting in the scale up and implementation of developmental products/processes. Core challenges include leading continuous process improvement to drive Key Performance Indicators for the operation, to meet goals established by the business along with providing technical guidance to the operations team, and to assist with process troubleshooting along with developing corrective action plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Lead productivity projects yielding significant reductions in defects/costs and increased productivity

+ Maintain engineering documents and participate in PHAs that execute on recommendations to eliminate process safety hazards

+ Develop Pre-Feed/FEL-1 packages for capital projects

+ Work on projects that optimize energy consumption and could help in reducing expenses to operate in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

+ Perform root cause analysis and implement process changes/control plans to drive continuous improvement

+ Utilize Six Sigma tools to drive process improvements

+ Identify process KPIs and work independently or on a team to reduce process variability and waste through process unit operations optimization

+ Work closely with other operational engineers to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve OEE

+ Utilize MOC process to manage changes

+ Support operations in troubleshooting daily process issues as needed

+ Develop new SOPs or update existing ones as needed

+ Relief Valve Sizing and package creation

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

+ Support PreFEED and FEED development for projects including process scope and design solutions for growth, cost savings, and HSE projects

+ Develop process models, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout, basic control schemes, and equipment specifications

+ Identify and mitigate technical and process safety risks during design

+ Provide onsite technical support during project construction, commissioning, startup, and product trials

+ Identify and evaluate process alternatives during design and justify process improvements with economic evaluations

+ Develop expertise with process chemistry and unit operations to enable scaleup of laboratory and pilot data to commercial design

+ Work with manufacturing sites to develop and implement productivity projects

+ Demonstrate knowledge of engineering techniques to optimize manufacturing processes

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

+ Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in chemical industry manufacturing, operations, or engineering roles

WE VALUE

+ Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering

+ Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing preferred

+ Specialty Chemical manufacturing experience preferred

+ Experience with identifying process changes and recommendations

+ Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Experience scoping projects with business level impact

+ Ability to work without guidance or supervision

+ Ability to accurately identify patterns to solve problems

+ Experience with Management of Change process and PSM site experience

+ Experience with Process Simulation software (ASPEN, HTRI, PIPE-FLO) for chemical process equipment design

+ Working knowledge of RAGAGEP

COMPENSATION

The annual base salary range for this position is 74k-105k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Solstice considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
