Position Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with Professor Gita Gopinath on cutting-edge research in international finance and macroeconomics. The position is ideal for candidates planning to pursue a Ph.D. in economics and seeking hands-on research experience before graduate school.
Research Areas
• Tariffs and trade policy
• Stablecoins and digital currencies
• Optimal policy design in open economies
• Broader topics in international macroeconomics and finance
Responsibilities
• Conduct empirical analysis
• Review and summarize academic literature
• Assistant in theoretical and computational modeling
• Prepare presentations and draft sections of research papers

*This position is fully paid and visa may be arranged
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or
related fields
• Strong quantitative and programming skills (Stata, R, Python; MATLAB )
• Knowledge of econometrics and macroeconomic theory
• Plus if also skilled in blockchain analysis but not necessary.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Hard working, committed, able to work independently and collaboratively
• Fellow is expected to work on campus and not remotely
Additional Qualifications
• Prior research experience in economics or finance is preferred
• Interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in economics
