Job Description

The Role

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will lead program execution for machine controls and robotics within a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or plant assembly environment. This role requires creativity, initiative, and independent judgment to deliver innovative solutions that enable high-quality production. You will manage new program launches, troubleshoot existing systems, and provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers.

What You’ll Do

+ Execute new program launches, including Statement of Requirements (SOR) preparation, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off, and buyoff.

+ Oversee design, construction, integration, plant installation, and continuous improvement of equipment and tools for high-quality part production.

+ Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet program milestones.

+ Provide project updates and report-outs to senior management.

+ Support existing programs/sites with troubleshooting and technical guidance.

+ Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and plant personnel.

+ Design and troubleshoot electrical control systems.

+ Contribute to development and testing of advanced process technologies.

+ Travel as required to support program execution and plant activities.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

+ 5+ years of professional experience as a controls/robotics engineer.

+ Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems applied in manufacturing environments.

+ Basic understanding of mechanical concepts related to machine design and process requirements.

+ Proficiency in Siemens CNC, PLC, and HMI programming; Ethernet and/or ProfiNet/ProfiSafe networks.

+ Knowledge of servo motors, motion control, and drives.

+ Ability to design and troubleshoot electrical control systems.

+ Experience across multiple manufacturing controls and/or robotics assignments with measurable achievements.

+ Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and learn new systems.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

+ Prior experience as a controls engineer in the automotive industry.

+ Understanding of plant floor operations.

+ General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.

The selected candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis (25-50%) for this role.

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
