Description

One of our top clients is looking for an experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join their team in Rockville, Maryland. This role involves negotiating retail leases, drafting legal documents, and working closely with tenants to finalize agreements. The ideal candidate will bring experience in retail leasing and a strong ability to manage lease negotiations independently.

Responsibilities:

• Draft and review retail lease agreements to ensure compliance with legal and business standards.

• Negotiate lease terms with tenants, addressing specific concerns and resolving conflicts effectively.

• Participate in meetings with tenants to discuss lease provisions and support negotiation efforts.

• Identify situations requiring escalation to attorneys for complex legal matters.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to address tenant needs related to co-tenancy and exclusivity clauses.

• Analyze leasing proposals and provide recommendations to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

• Facilitate communication between landlords, tenants, and legal teams to ensure smooth transactions.

• Maintain accurate documentation of lease agreements and negotiation outcomes.

• Offer guidance on legal and business implications of retail lease terms.

• Stay informed of industry trends impacting commercial real estate leasing.

Requirements

• Proven experience in retail leasing negotiations, with a focus on commercial real estate - minimum of 5 years of experience.

• Strong ability to draft legal documents, including leases and related agreements.

• Familiarity with co-tenancy and exclusivity clauses in retail leases.

• Previous experience in an in-house, landlord, tenant, or law firm setting specializing in retail leasing.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for tenant interactions and negotiations.

• Ability to identify issues requiring attorney involvement and escalate appropriately.

• Knowledge of commercial leasing standards and practices.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
