Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager (CPA) to join our growing tax practice in Long Beach. This role is ideal for a tax professional with deep expertise in trusts and estates, high-net-worth individuals, and complex tax planning. The Senior Tax Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while leading tax engagements, mentoring staff, and supporting firm growth.
Key Responsibilities
+ Manage and review federal and state tax compliance for trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals, including Forms 1041, 706, 709, and complex 1040 returns
+ Provide strategic tax planning for estate, gift, and wealth transfer matters
+ Serve as primary point of contact for trust and estate clients, delivering proactive and consultative guidance
+ Oversee and review work prepared by senior accountants and tax staff; provide mentorship and technical training
+ Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memoranda as needed
+ Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, and fiduciaries to support comprehensive estate planning strategies
+ Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and manage correspondence, audits, and notices
+ Assist with practice development efforts, including client retention and referral growth
Qualifications
+ Active CPA license (required)
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred)
+ 7+ years of public accounting tax experience, with significant focus on trusts and estates
+ Strong technical knowledge of estate, gift, fiduciary, and individual taxation
+ Experience managing multiple client engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
+ Proven leadership skills with experience supervising and developing staff
Requirements
Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and family offices
Strong research and analytical capabilities
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel
Prior experience in a client-facing advisory or consultative role
