    Description

    We are seeking a skilled Tax Accountant for a contract assignment with a leading organization based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This role will play a key part in supporting year-end close processes and the preparation and submission of tax filings.

    Responsibilities:

    + Assist with year-end accounting close, reconciliation, and review of financial statements

    + Prepare and submit federal, state, and local tax returns

    + Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant tax regulations

    + Collaborate with internal accounting and finance teams to gather necessary documentation

    + Support tax audits or inquiries, supplying required schedules and supporting files

    + Identify potential tax savings or process improvements

    + Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the organization

    + Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required reports and returns

    Requirements

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    + CPA or EA certification preferred

    + 3+ years of experience in tax accounting (corporate, public, or nonprofit)

    + Proven expertise with federal and state taxes and year-end close procedures

    + Strong proficiency in accounting systems and tax preparation software

    + Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

    + Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

    + Effective communicator with a team-oriented approach
