    Robert Half Accountemps (Stockton, CA)


    Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Stockton, California. In this role, you will handle a variety of accounting tasks, including reconciliations, adjustments, and tax filings, while ensuring accurate financial records. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in accounts receivable, payroll processing, and financial reporting.

    Responsibilities:

    • Reconcile cash and accounts receivable across multiple entities to ensure accuracy in financial records.

    • Process adjustments and write-offs while creating journal entries to maintain accurate ledgers.

    • Prepare and monitor bad debt write-offs and manage the allowance account.

    • Complete balance sheet reconciliations to maintain compliance with accounting standards.

    • File sales tax returns for multiple states and manage business and retail fee filings.

    • Review, prepare, and post payroll-related journal entries, including commissions and medical expenses.

    • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

    • Serve as backup for the senior accountant in managing fixed assets and other accounting team responsibilities.

    • Utilize accounting software such as AS400 and Sage300 to perform daily tasks efficiently. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable and general accounting.

    • Strong knowledge of reconciling accounts receivable and cash for multiple entities.

    • Proficiency in creating and posting journal entries, including adjustments and write-offs.

    • Experience with month-end processes, including sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations.

    • Familiarity with filing sales tax returns and corporate tax processes.

    • Advanced skills in accounting software like AS400 and Sage300, as well as proficiency in Excel formulas.

    • Ability to perform balance sheet account reconciliations with high attention to detail.

    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to shifting priorities.
