Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join a non-profit organization based in Charleston, South Carolina. This is a contract position that requires strong expertise in accounting processes, financial reporting, and grant management. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization’s financial goals.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
• Coordinate and support financial statement audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
• Prepare detailed monthly financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Reconcile bank accounts and ensure proper tracking of transactions.
• Handle grant accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including payments to vendors and collections.
• Collaborate with teams to manage expense tools and credit card transactions.
• Support IT and facilities management in coordination with outsourced services.
• Provide training and guidance to staff during transitional periods. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Financial Edge software.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, audits, and compliance.
• Familiarity with grant accounting and reporting processes.
• Experience with month-end close procedures and general ledger management.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
