    Description

    A well-established CPA firm in Melville, NY is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to assist with the preparation of individual (1040) tax returns during the busy tax season. This is a great opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys hands-on return preparation in a collaborative, professional environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Prepare and review individual income tax returns (Form 1040)

    + Analyze W-2s, 1099s, investment statements, and other supporting documents

    + Prepare returns involving itemized deductions, credits, and basic schedules

    + Ensure compliance with federal and New York State tax regulations

    + Identify potential tax issues and escalate complex matters to senior staff

    + Maintain accurate documentation and organized workpapers

    + Communicate professionally with internal team members regarding return status

    Requirements

    5+ years of experience preparing personal tax returns in a CPA firm or similar setting

     

    Strong knowledge of federal and NYS individual income tax requirements

     

    Familiarity with common tax software (UltraTax, ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar)

     

    Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines

     

    CPA, EA, or active pursuit of certification a plus (not required)
