    A reputable, community-focused CPA firm in Vista is seeking a detail-oriented Seasonal Tax Preparer to support individual and small business clients during the peak tax season. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a collaborative firm environment and can handle a steady workflow of diverse tax filings.

    • Key Responsibilities

    + Prepare 1040 returns for individuals, ensuring accurate reporting of wages, investments, deductions, and credits.

    + Handle small business returns including Schedule C, rental property filings, and basic K-1 review.

    + Review prior-year returns for carryovers, depreciation schedules, and potential tax-saving opportunities.

    + Communicate with clients to gather missing tax documents and answer basic tax-related questions.

    + Conduct high-level data entry and verification of W-2s, 1099s, brokerage statements, and income documentation.

    + Work alongside CPAs and senior tax staff to finalize returns before submission.

    + Stay up-to-date with new IRS guidelines and California tax changes relevant to the current filing year.

    Requirements

    + 2+ years of tax preparation experience within a CPA or tax firm

    + Strong understanding of individual tax rules and California state returns

    + Experience with Lacerte, ProSeries, Drake, or UltraTax

    + Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

    + Strong communication and client-service mindset

    + PTIN required
