Description
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Controller to oversee the financial operations of a growing construction company. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ComputerEase and a deep understanding of construction industry financial practices.
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee all accounting and financial functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and job cost accounting
+ Maintain accurate job cost records and ensure proper allocation of costs
+ Manage month-end and year-end close processes
+ Monitor cash flow, retainage, and project profitability
+ Ensure compliance with GAAP, construction accounting standards, and applicable tax regulations
+ Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and job cost reports
+ Oversee billing processes, including progress billings, retainage, and change orders
+ Coordinate with external CPA firms for audits, reviews, and tax filings
+ Maintain and optimize accounting systems, with a focus on ComputerEase
+ Develop and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
+ Provide financial reporting and analysis to ownership and senior management
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
+ 7+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting
+ Prior experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller preferred
+ Hands-on experience with ComputerEase required
+ Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, retainage, and percentage-of-completion accounting
+ Experience with construction payroll, including certified payroll and prevailing wage (preferred)
+ Advanced Excel skills
+ Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a part-time capacity
