Robert Half Finance and Accounting and Kevin Sweet have partnered with a well-established 35+ year-old distribution company and the largest in its space nationwide is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the Controller, with a clear career path into an Accounting Supervisor position.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accountant who enjoys owning the close process, collaborating cross-functionally, and is ready to step into leadership in the near future.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform the monthly close process and support ongoing financial reporting activities

+ Review monthly income statements and related financial reports

+ Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis

+ Ensure all financial records comply with company policies, procedures, and GAAP

+ Partner closely with the Controller, providing support during and outside of the close process

+ Assist external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation, and account support for annual audits

+ Contribute to continuous process improvement and perform additional accounting duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)

+ 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting

+ Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

+ Advanced organizational skills with strong attention to detail

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments

+ Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision

+ Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency

+ Ability to prioritize deadlines and manage multiple projects
