ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Manager Construction Management position. This position is responsible for managing, overseeing, coordinating, and directing Public Works Construction Management division and capital improvement management, inspection, and quality control; complex and/or sensitive construction, remodeling, and major repair projects of Clark County public infrastructure. Additionally, this role manages the workflow, sets objectives and guidelines, organizes schedules, handles issues and concerns, and ensures that assistant management, engineers, inspectors, and construction industry follow all applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate engineering field AND four (4) years of full-time supervisory level experience in engineering project management. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Possession of a valid registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of Nevada is desirable.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
+ Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of professional and technical support staff, normally through subordinate supervision.
+ Recommends selection of staff; trains staff and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required.
+ Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the division; prepares and administers the division's budget.
+ Prepares or directs the preparation of requirements for proposal, evaluates consultant qualifications and negotiates and administers contracts.
+ Participates in long- and short-term departmental planning and policy formation.
+ Contributes to the overall quality of the department's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
+ Oversees County construction efforts; reviews plans and specifications, makes on-site inspections and authorizes contractor requests for payment.
+ Develops solutions to effect the resolution of construction problems; provides technical assistance to County staff and contractor representatives.
+ Maintains liaison with and coordinates activities for construction efforts with other local public agencies; confers and develops and maintains contact with representatives of utilities and other area governmental agencies.
+ Coordinates with contract administrators, architects and construction contractors; schedules projects; provides technical advice; ensures that all work complies with contract specifications and applicable codes and standards.
+ Directs the maintenance of accurate records and files and prepares a variety of periodic and special reports and correspondence.
+ Monitors developments in equipment, materials and techniques in the engineering design and construction field; gathers information, develops alternatives and makes recommendations.
+ Drives a county vehicle to visit various construction sites and attend off-site meetings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment and to drive a motor vehicle in order to visit work sites; strength and stamina to inspect various construction projects and facilities; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone or radio.
