What You’ll Do
The primary purpose of this role is to drive category strategy development, partnering closely with Category President and reporting into VP, Finance & Strategy. Role requires strong collaboration and partnership with Brand Finance leaders, Category Presidents, and cross-functionally with Corporate Strategy, Value Chain and Finance.
Strategic Analysis / Innovation
+ Provide financial analysis and insights (NPLs, advertising and promotion effectiveness, sell through trends, cannibalization and halo impacts) to support brand strategy and strategic initiatives, investment decisions, business development opportunities, accuracy of future forecasts, and resourcing allocation
+ Identify profitable growth opportunities by viewing the global brand business from all strategic perspectives: innovation vs. commercial activities, global vs. regional heroes, core vs. emerging regions, and diversification to high-growth, brand-building channels.
+ Develop cross business financial analysis of consumer, distribution, category and competitor trends and opportunities.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
+ Own robust financial reporting systems to track and analyze key performance metrics against budget and forecast.
+ Lead development of key presentations to the brand and company senior management. (NPR presentations, SIOP)
+ Conduct Ad-hoc reporting on key business needs in partnership with cross functional teams (SC, IR) SC, IR. Ad-hoc Corporate or Brand Cluster requests.
Category Optimization
+ Drive annual category strategy process, ensuring working team stays on track and delivers on goal and timeline
+ Be a strong business partner to the Category President to develop long-range category strategy with a consumer-centric and share-led framework, encompassing where our brands will play and how to win against competition to maximize category units, sales and profit growth
+ Lead with an enterprise portfolio mindset, driving prioritization across key sub-categories/franchises and optimizing across brands innovation pipelines and calendars
+ Develop consumer, market share, sales and profit ambition and long-range plan for category – by key sub-categories, by brand, and by region; ensuring alignment between strategic vision and financial goals
+ Deploy category targets to Brands on corporate processes, such as SRP increase, line edit/SKU rationalization, etc.in partnership with VP, FP&A and Category President.
+ Drive category-specific initiatives with Value Chain, with focus on improving cost, speed and agility
+ Translate and lead category strategy into measurable KPIs; monitor and drive actions on a quarterly basis
+ Support corporate strategic initiatives with seamless synchronization and cascade to the category and brand level
+ Support ad-hoc projects, as needed
Qualifications
Who You Are
Qualifications
+ 8-10+ years of business and/or brand experience
+ Background in Finance, Strategy consulting or part of corporate/brand strategy function within a large corporation
+ Industry knowledge, preferred
+ Outstanding strategic and problem solving skills; proven ability to establish oneself as a thought-leader
+ Strong analytical capabilities and ability to structure conversations within a strategic framework
+ Demonstrated ability to lead strategy development requiring synthesis of large amounts of complex data into meaningful conclusions
+ Strong communication skills ( Written & Verbal)
+ Project Management Mindset
+ Ability to handle multiple priorities
+ Succeeds and thrives in a fast-paced environment
+ Comfortable and trustworthy to handle confidential information
+ Entrepreneurial with ability to navigate complex matrix environment
+ Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
