The Role
Xylem is seeking a skilled and motivated **Data Engineer** to join our Data Engineering team. In this role, you will bring hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms—particularly **Azure and Databricks** —along with working knowledge of **SAP data integration** , to help advance our enterprise data capabilities.
As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain data integration pipelines that curate and transform Xylem data to enable data-driven decision-making and accelerate digital transformation. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to deliver **certified data models, reports, and dashboards** that support enterprise reporting and advanced analytics.
Core Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
+ Collaborate with senior engineers to architect cloud-based data solutions using **Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure SQL** .
+ Integrate data from **SAP ERP** and other enterprise systems into modern cloud data platforms.
+ Use **Databricks and Apache Spark** to process and optimize large-scale data workflows.
+ Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency.
+ Support the creation of certified datasets, data models, reports, and dashboards for analytics and machine learning use cases.
+ Apply data governance, security, and compliance best practices across data pipelines.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline, performance, and workflow issues.
+ Contribute to CI/CD processes for deploying and managing data workflows and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
+ **3–5 years** of experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
+ Hands-on experience with **Azure data services** , including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Databricks.
+ Strong **SQL and Python** skills for data engineering and pipeline development.
+ Experience working with **Azure Data Lake** or similar cloud-based distributed storage solutions.
+ Understanding of data modeling concepts, including **star and snowflake schemas** .
+ Familiarity with **CI/CD pipelines** for data workflows.
+ Basic working knowledge of **Apache Spark** .
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience integrating data from **SAP ERP** systems.
+ Azure Data Engineering certification.
+ Exposure to analytics or machine learning data use cases.
