**Location:** Suzanne H Arnold Center for Breast Health in Lancaster, Pa
**Sign-on Bonus:** Up to $5000.00 prorated based on hours worked per week with a 2 year commitment. External and internal eligible candidates only.
**Schedule:** Full time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30am-7pm with occasional Saturday mornings from 8am-12pm, no on-call, no holidays.
Position Summary:
The Mammography/Breast Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of mammographic and sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations. The Technologist is also responsible for daily operations of the patient schedule, equipment maintenance, equipment failure reporting and quality assessment. Must maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self–motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. This position requires the Technologist to be registered by ARRT to perform breast sonographic procedures. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: Child (2 to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 64 years), and geriatric (over 64 years)
Essential Functions:
+ Perform all mammographic and breast ultrasound procedures through proper technique selection according to department policy and procedure. This includes providing services on weekends, holidays, and other times as determined by management. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
+ Receives requests, checking for special instructions from the requesting physicians; consults with Radiologists as necessary.
+ Greets patients and actively identifies patient to ensure correct patient and procedure.
+ Explains procedure to patient and family.
+ Completes required documentation of patient history
+ Completes examination and billing as required.
+ Documents technical observations for each procedure and obtains assistance as needed.
+ Evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
+ Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
+ Follow established departmental procedures.
+ Use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic information in each examination performed
+ Integrate exams, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt examinations as necessary.
+ Recognize and adapt to the needs of patients with varying cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
+ Displays a positive attitude when interacting with all customers.
+ Participates in the clinical education of students and staff as required.
+ Performs visual preventive safety inspections for each exam room, as assigned, and reports any problems to the appropriate personnel.
+ Maintains necessary inventory supplies for each exam room, as assigned, and reports any supply replenishment needs to the appropriate personnel.
+ Works efficiently and copes with emergency situations.
+ Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public and health care team.
Required Qualifications
+ Graduate of an AMA accredited program for Radiology Technologists
+ Certified in Radiological Technology, by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
+ Certification in mammography, by the ARRT
+ Certification in breast ultrasound, by the ARRT, is required within one year
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Three years’ experience as a Mammography Technologist
+ Competency exams in all areas of specialty offered at Lancaster General Health
