About the Internship
The John F. Kennedy (JFK) Redevelopment Program is delivering a world-class airport designed to meet the region’s future demand, with JFK projected to serve up to 100 million passengers annually by 2050. This $19 billion program encompasses the planning, design, financing, and construction of modernized terminals, airside and landside infrastructure, utilities, roadways, bridges, parking, the AirTrain system, cargo facilities, and airport fueling systems. Engineering Aid interns will support this complex, multi-stakeholder program by gaining exposure to airport infrastructure development, data analysis, and coordination across technical and community-focused teams.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn how large-scale transportation infrastructure projects are planned and delivered through both traditional and innovative procurement methods.
Responsibilities
+ Review designs for consistency with Requirements for Performance of Work (RPW)
+ Review Operational Readiness Activation and Transition (ORAT) plans
+ Support the Redevelopment team with implementation and tracking of ongoing progress
Minimum Qualifications
+ Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
+ Majors in Engineering, Construction, Aviation, or a related discipline
Desired Qualifications
+ Rising sophomore, junior or senior
+ Ability to conduct research, review documentation, and prepare clear summary reports
+ Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
+ Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
+ Interest in major infrastructure or redevelopment programs
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Internship Details
+ The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
+ The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
+ This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
+ In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits
+ The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
