By working closely with U.S, state and local and foreign governments and coordinating grassroots advocacy efforts, our Global Government Affairs & Environmental team represents United on regulatory, public policy and legislative issues. This team advocates every day for our airline, our employees, and the millions of customers we serve all around the globe.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Senior Manager - Regulatory Affairs and Policy is a regulatory affairs and policy advocate with persuasive written and oral presentation and research skills. It is an essential part of the team delivering positive and successful regulatory outcomes for United in a fast paced and challenging competitive environment. This position is responsible for developing and advocating positions before executive branch agencies and leaders to influence decisions of strategic importance to United's business operations and enhance United's reputation as a leading company.
+ Develops advocacy and background materials for the regulatory team
+ Distills complicated issues into persuasive advocacy materials
+ Contributes to formulation of factual policy and economic arguments before agencies and successfully implements strategies to drive positive outcomes for the company
+ Communicates and advocates for United's policy objectives and programs that advance the Company's image and reputation
+ Actively and continuously develops and maintains external relationships of trust with agency decision-makers and staff in order to drive positive results
+ Coordinates optimally with key internal team members including the rest of the Governmental Affairs team and across United
+ Maintains external partnerships and relationships with trade associations, think tanks, other organizations to network and build coalitions to get results
+ Assists with compliance activities, information requests and government investigations as needed
+ May provide support for Congressional Affairs team on areas of advocacy alignment
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
+ Bachelor's degree
+ 7+ years of relevant experience
+ 3+ years’ experience work for or directly with U.S. government agencies
+ Advocacy experience
+ Ability to translate and communicate complex regulatory topics for a broader audience
+ Experience in drafting government filings and communications
+ Excellent verbal and written advocacy and interpersonal skills
+ Results oriented and persistent self-starter
+ Experienced in multi-tasking on multiple priorities
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
+ This role is based in Washington D.C. and follows a hybrid schedule, with four days per week in the office

+ Master's degree, MBA, JD, or other advanced degree
+ PowerPoint, research and presentation skills
The base pay range for this role is $124,735.00 to $162,388.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
