Patient Care Technician
Marshalltown Hospital
Shift: One 12 hour shift per week; 6A-6P; holiday and weekend rotation
The Patient Care Technician is a member of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort for patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Reports and records observations and contribute to the efficient functionality of the department.

Responsibilities
+ Partners with the RN and healthcare team to support patient care outcomes and goals of care.
+ Performs delegated tasks per competency and seeks guidance when completing new or unfamiliar duties.
+ Obtains, records, and accurately enters patient data into the EMR according to PCT Scope of Practice standards.
+ Completes documentation promptly to ensure an accurate legal record of patient care.
+ Communicates factual, concise, and timely patient information to the RN, healthcare team, patients, and families.
+ Provides 1:1 observation for high-risk patients after completing CPI and sitter orientation.
+ Conducts thorough, safety-focused hand-offs to communicate treatment plans, assessments, and patient needs.
+ Demonstrates commitment to patient and workplace safety by preventing and reporting errors, accidents, and infections.
+ Maintains accountability for knowing the current condition and needs of assigned patients.
Qualifications
Education:
+ Completion of RN/Education lead training Day within 6 months of hire
This position does not get reported with Direct Care Workers (DCW).
