Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1072000 and is part of the NC ASO, National Guard (ASO - AASF #2 / Manning Document 4622-094). Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF), WG-8602-11, you will plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed, by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s); determine approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner; independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures; estimate time, equipment and material requirements; devise and maintain plans and records; provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave; perform the full range of shop work; perform in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop; implement safety regulatory requirements; ensure that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions; prepare for, and participate in, various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises; perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment. Serves as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies; perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted (E5 to E7) Minimum Requirements: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
