Summary This position is located in the Office of Intelligence and Threat Analysis, Directorate of Threat Investigations and Analysis, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State (DS/TIA/ITA). You will be responsible for assessing and disseminating all-source analysis regarding threats and incidents of terrorism, political violence and crimes directed against U.S. diplomatic facilities/personnel, DS protected individuals/assets and U.S. interests overseas. Responsibilities Research, analyze, and disseminate intelligence and law enforcement information on major issues related to threats from terrorism, political violence, and crimes that affect U.S. national security. Evaluate the validity, accuracy, and reliability of information received from a wide variety of sources. Prepare intelligence reports to provide timely analysis of potential threats pertinent to the formulation and execution of foreign policy. Conduct briefings on issues involving threat, terrorism, political violence, and overseas security environments for internal and external government audiences. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying analytical methods and techniques to identify trends and assess information validity in threat intelligence assessments. Experience preparing intelligence reports related to information on terrorism, political violence, and crime; and Experience presenting analyses and defending recommendations on intelligence information. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position. Education Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.
