Community Development Specialist
Job Summary
Responsible for the development and delivery of education programs that will directly contribute to the increase in blood and registry numbers across WNY and provide coordination for all activities and projects of the Marketing & Community Development Department including volunteer services, event planning, community outreach, operations, and administrative support.
Schedule:
40hrs per week, 8:30am-5:00pm or 7:30am-4pm, with occasional evening and weekend obligations.
Pay:
Non-Exempt
$19.52/hr-$26.03/hr
Pay will commensurate with relevant qualifications, skills, and experience.
Education Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Business, or related field required.
Experience:
+ 2 years of experience in program management, relationship development and cultivation required.
+ 1-3 years of experience with public speaking, development, and delivery of presentations, seminars or educational modules required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Able to effectively articulate and rally support for program goals, including communicating with diverse audiences.
+ Strong team leadership, organizational, management and supervisory skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
+ Supervise, delegate, coach, and motivate in collaborative team environment.
+ Results oriented, with the ability to think critically, manage, prioritize and multi-task in a fast-moving environment.
+ Strategic goal setting, setting performance standards, and budgeting required.
+ Professional appearance and demeanor.
+ Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Some travel required.
Required Physical Demands:
+ Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
+ Occasional bending, squatting, and kneeling.
+ Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 10lbs.
+ Occasional lift, carry, push, pull up to 25lbs.
+ Occasional reaching forward, lateral, and overhead.
+ Continuous receiving detailed information through written, electronic, and oral communication.
+ Frequent clarity of vision at near and/or far distances.
Essential Job Functions:
+ Responsible for school-based and community programming resulting in the realization of annual growth as required by business goals.
+ Initiate new and cultivate education partnerships at the middle school, high school, and college level to enhance the overall experience with ConnectLife.
+ Create new education and outreach activities that substantially integrate and support ConnectLife’s strategic plan and organizational goals, in collaboration with leadership and staff.
+ Develop and conduct on-going training for relevant staff and volunteers across the organization to ensure they are adequately prepared to speak on ConnectLife’s behalf in the community.
+ Event planning, design and production while coordinating all project delivery elements within time limits.
+ Coordinate ConnectLife’s Volunteer Services Program. Ensure a trained volunteer corps that assists in the delivery of programs and services and can assist with grassroots marketing efforts to further the ConnectLife mission in accordance with all appropriate policies and procedures.
+ Host and attend recruitment events within the community to attract new volunteers.
+ Collaborate with ConnectLife staff in the scheduling and coordination of volunteers and/or staff for designated school programming, college programming, community outreach activities, blood drive support and other special events for the organization.
+ Analyze relevant internal and external data to prioritize targeting and drive data-based decision making to create and/or modify programs and initiatives connecting specific populations to ConnectLife.
+ Analyze all web-based and print education and outreach materials for use by the community and work with Marketing staff to create and/or modify based on needs.
+ Provide administrative support as needed through activities such as tracking and processing purchase orders/requests, expense reimbursements, ordering supplies, checking voicemails/emails, and returning calls.
+ Maintain sound knowledge of industry trends and data.
