    Description

    The Division of Cardiology at The Heart Institute, Stony Brook University Hospital, seeks a Director or Associate Director for its Preventive and Wellness Cardiology Program. The successful candidate will lead a novel, visible, comprehensive and data-driven preventive cardiology and wellness program that integrates overcoming barriers to optimal care through lifestyle medicine, genetics, imaging and digital health to prevent and predict of cardiometabolic disease. The position offers a robust and flexible mix of inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities within a major university-based Heart Institute.

    + Provide leadership and longitudinal preventive and general cardiology care across Heart Institute faculty practices. Champion prevention, wellness, and individualization of strategies to care for a very diverse population while developing outreach and educational opportunities.

    + Teach and mentor an incredible group of fellows, residents, and students; participate in research, QI, or implementation science focused on prevention and outcomes.     Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and kind physician who enjoys seeing patients, teaching and committed to contributing to the growth and long-term goals of the Heart Institute. MD, DO or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible/board certified in Cardiovascular disease.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, with interest in academic medicine, patient care, and/or programmatic development. Additional training (eg. teaching and administrative responsibilities), certification (in echocardiography, cardiac CT/MRI), and those with training in preventive cardiology, lipidology, cardiometabolic disease, women’s heart health, or digital health who aspire to help build a nationally recognized preventive program are encouraged to apply.
