OVERVIEW:
Summer interns will complete a 10-week internship located full-time on site in Middletown, CT. Liberty Bank is proud to host a dynamic and diverse internship program designed to cultivate the next generation of banking and finance professionals. Through this immersive internship, participants will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals, contribute to real world projects and develop essential skills that will prepare them for successful careers in the financial services industry and beyond!
SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
Work closely with and obtain guidance from the Audit Team to perform audit work, which may include control testing and regulatory reviews of certain areas of the Bank in order to gain an understanding of internal audit, the banking industry, and related processes and systems. Through this work, the intern will help identify key weaknesses or areas containing inefficiencies, as well as identify opportunities to enhance the Bank’s internal control environment. Work may also include assisting the Audit Team on department-wide projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Assist in executing audit assignments, including control testing and regulatory reviews, using business communication skills for documentation and Excel spreadsheets for testing.
+ Communicate effectively with Internal Audit (IA) team members and business lines to understand and execute audit steps.
+ Perform tasks related to internal audit, such as reading and applying policies and procedures (Audit Manual) that relate to audit standards.
+ Learn to navigate the audit management platform (AuditBoard) to document work papers and test work.
+ Support the Audit Team on department-wide projects and perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
+ Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Preferred candidates to be majoring in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; an interest in data analytics is a plus.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office
+ Proven analytical skills
+ Proven critical thinking skills
+ Strong organizational skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ General Office Equipment
+ Keyboard Dexterity
+ Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
+ Ability to travel.
