Pharmacy Business Specialist
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Business Specialist supports system-wide pharmacy operations, analytics, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee activities. This role partners closely with pharmacy leadership, clinical stakeholders, and external vendors to support formulary management, financial analyses, operational execution of P&T decisions, and ongoing pharmacy business initiatives. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment.
This position may be remote within Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, or Utah, or on-site at a St. Luke’s Health System location. Regular virtual meetings are expected, with quarterly on-site meetings required.
Key Responsibilities
System P&T Committee Support
+ Support Annual Drug Class Reviews by:
+ Obtaining drug purchase data for the previous two years
+ Updating drug pricing information
+ Collecting revenue data using the Cencora RCO tool
+ Analyzing medication utilization using Epic SlicerDicer
+ Reviewing Willow Inventory data
+ Identifying expired medications within drug classes
+ Support New Drug Reviews, including payer coverage inquiries
+ Assist in finalizing System P&T agendas and meeting minutes
+ Coordinate with presenters to obtain required materials prior to meetings
+ Maintain the System P&T Microsoft Teams site
Operationalization of P&T Decisions
+ Assist with implementation of approved System P&T decisions, including:
+ Sending approved protocols to the Medical Staff Office for JCOS review
+ Submitting Cherwell tickets for formulary changes
+ Maintaining SmartSheet tracking for formulary updates
+ Supporting and maintaining the System P&T Decision Tracking Spreadsheet
+ Preparing materials and follow-up actions for Post-P&T Operations meetings
Analytics & Financial Support
+ Provide support for P&T Analytics Meetings, including:
+ Tracking and following up on action items
+ Assisting with biosimilar financial modeling and preference card analysis
+ Supporting medication payer coverage and financial analyses
+ Attending monthly Business Coach meetings with the Cencora RCO team
Ambulatory P&T Committee
+ Support the development and formalization of processes for the Ambulatory P&T Committee
General Responsibilities
+ Attend required meetings (e.g., System P&T, P&T Analytics, Ambulatory P&T)
+ Effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities
+ Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required / Preferred
+ Pharmacy experience strongly preferred
+ Experience with St. Luke’s Health System preferred, but not required
+ Experience with Epic, particularly Willow and related applications
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
+ Knowledge of healthcare finance concepts
Education & Experience
+ **Education:** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
