We are hiring a full-time Safety Dispatcher to support Western Psychiatric Hospital!
The Safety Dispatcher is responsible for the monitoring of all fire, safety and medical systems throughout Western Psychiatric Hospital as well as functioning as a communications operator and dispatcher. Also responsible for viewing CCTV systems.
The shift for this position is Saturday day shift and evening shift Sunday - Wednesday.
Responsibilities:
+ Perform and complete any/all other assignments, responsibilities as directed by manager/supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
+ Familiar with WPH off-site locations/contact personnel.
+ Will follow disaster plan worksheet, bomb threat worksheet and other checklists as appropriate for WPH and off-site locations.
+ Dispatcher will contact all appropriate personnel and complete D3 dispatch as appropriate.
+ Assist Plant Engineers in testing elevators, fire pump, electrical systems, water shutdowns, steam shutdowns, etc.
+ Responsible for assuring all aforementioned equipment is functioning properly.
+ Any and all discrepancies to be immediately reported to the appropriate responsible department, as well as insuring accurate and timely documentation is completed, to include phone or utility disruptions.
+ Must perform well under conditions of emergency or high stress to include implementing the appropriate emergency response, as well as proper tracing of phone calls in the event of a possible threat of danger (i.e., bomb threat) or patient-related assistance (i.e., suicide).
+ Must maintain a working knowledge of various WPH programs and how to effectively and appropriately connect the requester to the specific program/department.
+ Must be familiar with staff and patient information, as well as visiting hours, and hospital policies.
+ Perform the role of phone directory and operator for staff and visitors when applicable.
+ Responsible for maintaining daily record of all on-call personnel to include Administrator-on call, DEC Doctor-on-call, Consults, and any other pertinent staff using the D3 Reporting System. Will also be responsible to contact and dispatch the requested on-call person, as well as building engineer and housekeeping staff, when necessary.
+ Assume role of Parking Attendant in his/her absence by monitoring electronic gates and entrances into building from J-lot roof level.
+ Dispatcher will communicate with those individuals via intercom to confirm those individuals are consumers and visitors of WPH or leaseholders.
+ Individuals who are not conducting business within WPH will be directed to an alternative parking location.
+ Monitor and maintain various other instruments contained within the Safety Systems Office, i.e., freezer alarms, two (2) main doors into WPH after normal business hours, handicap entrance, as well as dispatch all Safety/Security related calls via two-way radio system.
+ Monitor Medical Emergency System assuring that appropriate WPH/CHP/PUH staff respond, as well as appropriate outside assistance (i.e. 911) if necessary.
+ Complete necessary documentation.
+ Monitor various security systems to include Emergency Body Buttons, Level 1 intercoms, closed circuit televisions, burglar alarm systems and distress buttons.
+ Dispatch appropriate personnel. Complete necessary documentation.
+ Monitor WPH fire alarm system to include computer program and Simplex Fire System panel.
+ Notify Inpatient units of off-line/on-line status by means of telephone and overhead announcement.
+ Dispatch engineers/safety officers upon activation.
+ Complete necessary documentation.
+ High School diploma or equivalent required: Public Safety, Security, EMS, Maintenance and/or Utility Services or Associate's degree in related areas.
+ Previous dispatching experience preferred
+ Microsoft Office experience preferred
+ Problem solving skills necessary to balance multiple duties and effectively assign priorities.
+ Ability to prioritize multiple communication functions and adjust to immediate needs (i.e. manage radio dispatch, telephone and alarm notification and monitor CCTV as it relates to the particular incident.
+ Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a wide range of physicians, administrators, directors, staff and families.
+ Ability to effectively interpret and communicate via telephone, intercom and radio calls.
+ Ability to adjust from tedium of viewing multiple CCTV locations to demands of emergency.
+ Capability with the inherent stress of the environment.
+ Computer skills in both DOS and WINDOWS environment.
+ Service excellence attitude and approach in performance of duties.
+ Work under conditions of potentially high stress/emergencies.
+ Ability to function with minimal supervision.
+ Knowledge of various security/safety systems, as well as communication skills.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
