    Here's how we support our nurses:

    Sign-On Bonus Details (Full-Time status)

    * $15,000 sign-on bonus available for nurses with over one year of experience

    + Up to five and a half weeks of Paid Time Off annually, plus seven paid holidays each year

    Hours: This position is full-time, Primarily Monday-Friday day shift with rotating leadership call.

     

    Previous critical care and leadership experience highly preferred.

    Purpose: The Unit Director maintains 24-hour accountability for leading and managing their assigned area in order to ensure an outstanding experience for patients and employees by continuously improving the quality of patient care, creating a healthy workplace for staff, and overseeing clinical, and administrative/business functions. The Unit Director is responsible for collaborating with medical staff to monitor patient outcomes and setting clinical quality priorities, supporting shared governance through a unit-based professional practice council and using staff feedback to implement professional and patient safety improvements, and developing a best practice climate for the growth and development of students as well as all unit employees. The Unit Director has responsibility for the oversight of selection and hiring of staff, department orientation, and fostering a culture of continuous performance management. This includes completing and delivering employee evaluations, managing daily unit and employee performance, as well as the department budget.

    + Collaborates with medical staff to monitor patient outcomes and set clinical quality priorities.

    + Recommends and implements professional improvements and unit-based patient safety initiatives.

    + Monitors dashboard indicators and develops action plans to address concerns and improve quality.

    + Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to enhance clinical care and shares learnings across units.

    + Analyzes nurse and patient satisfaction data and creates action plans as needed.

    + Encourages staff nurse involvement in evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.

    + Builds productive internal and external relationships through mentoring and positive communication.

    + Resolves conflicts promptly and fosters trust through transparency and acknowledgment of contributions.

    + Plans department schedules to support safety, work-life balance, and healthy lifestyles.

    + Communicates clearly and effectively to engage audiences and ensure message retention.

    + Coaches staff on cultural diversity and addresses workplace issues such as horizontal violence and impairment.

    + Creates an inclusive environment valuing differences among staff, physicians, patients, and communities.

    + Develops shared vision and operational plans using critical thinking, financial, and quality data.

    + Involves staff and stakeholders in vision development within a shared governance model.

    + Leads complex change, supports psychological transitions, and engages stakeholders in redesign efforts.

    + Influences external environment through participation in professional and advocacy organizations.

    + Promotes patient-centered decisions within Relationship-Based Care framework.

    + Ensures nursing practice aligns with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.

    + Assists Clinicians with oversight of direct reports, including performance reviews and recruitment.

    + Ensures competency assessments for all direct care providers and addresses gaps in knowledge and skills.

    + Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages served by the assigned unit.

    + Understands principles of growth and development across the life span.

    + Assesses patient data and interprets information to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care per department policies and procedures.

    + Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience required; relevant clinical experience preferred.

    + Possesses analytical ability to evaluate staff, address clinical issues, and develop solutions to complex problems.

    + Exhibits leadership ability to develop staff, maintain performance standards, and comply with administrative requirements.

    + Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills for effective relationships with patients, families, staff, physicians, and senior management.

    + BS/BSN required at time of hire; master's degree/MSN required.

    + If BS degree is not in nursing, a master's or higher degree in nursing is required.

    + If master's degree is not in nursing, a BSN is required.

    + If master's degree/MSN is not present at hire, enrollment in a master's or MSN program within one year is required, with completion within three years of enrollment.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within one year of hire or transfer.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS)

    + NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) within 6 months of hire or transfer.

    + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire or transfer.

    + Registered Nurse (RN) Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
