+ Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field.
+ At least 5 years of progressive, full-time work experience in student housing, residential life, or student affairs.
+ At least 3 years of experience supervising full-time staff.
Preferred Qualifications
+ At least 7 years of progressive, full-time experience within student housing, residential life, or student affairs.
+ At least 5 years of experience supervising full-time staff.
+ Experience supporting a residential campus community of 6,000+ beds.
+ Experience leading crisis and emergency response efforts in a residential community.
+ Experience with building management and staff engagement.
+ Experience with Living-Learning communities, Student Conduct, Large-Scale Event Management, Training, and Student Leadership.
+ Experience with retention and student success programming.
Job Description
The Associate Director for Residential Experience will serve as the secondary leader for a robust unit that develops a supportive and engaging learning environment for on-campus students. This position will oversee 4 Assistant Directors, each responsible for a functional area and supervision of in-community staff members. The Associate Director will partner to help architect the transformation of the residential experience, focusing on enhancing student support and increasing retention rates. This position will report to the Director of Residential Experience.
Job Duties
Supervision
+ Directly supervise four Assistant Directors in functional areas, indirectly supervise 20 Residence Directors, two functional coordinators, six Graduate Assistants, and 225 Resident Assistants.
Experience Development
+ Assist in overseeing the development of a cohesive and comprehensive residential experience rooted in student success and retention goals.
+ Develop initiatives with a strong focus on community development, student engagement, and involvement.
Student Support and Crisis Response
+ Directly oversee an on-call structure that provides student support during and after hours.
+ Serve as an developer and manager for complex processes and procedures, including management of manuals and other operational resources to ensure maximum service delivery.
+ Enhance and grow a student-of-concern intervention program that integrates with existing campus resources.
Departmental Administration
+ Collaborate with Housing Administrative Services ( HAS ) and Housing Facilities Services ( HFS ) units to ensure a seamless student experience.
+ Manage the planning and coordination of significant initiatives for the Residential Experience unit.
+ Liaison between business operations staff regarding budget and purchasing compliance for the residential experience unit.
+ Responsible for the implementation of assessment efforts of the unit.
