    Summary:

    The Managed Care Coordinator (analyst) supports UNC Health’s network strategy by developing, maintaining, and analyzing physician contract models and performing ad hoc system (hospital and physician) analysis. This role provides actionable insights that guide negotiations, optimize reimbursement structures, and ensure alignment with organizational financial and strategic goals.

    Responsibilities:

    1. **Physician Contract Modeling -** Analyze contract terms, fee schedules, and payment methodologies to forecast financial impact and identify risks or opportunities. Model alternative contract scenarios to support negotiation strategy and evaluate proposed payer terms. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all modeling inputs and outputs.

    2. **Financial & Operational Analysis -** Conduct detailed utilization, cost, and revenue analyses to support decision‑making across the enterprise. Perform variance analysis and root‑cause investigation for reimbursement changes or unexpected financial outcomes. Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes with contract‑related insights. Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from Managed Care leadership, Finance, and operational partners. Extract, validate, and reconcile data from multiple internal systems with various tools (e.g., Epic, Strata, Business Objects, Denodo, Tableau).

    Education Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    + No licensure or certification required.

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    + If Bachelor's degree, requires two (2) years of experience with managed care contracts and provider relations.

    + If Associate’s degree, requires six (6) years of experience with managed care contracts and provider relations.

    + If High School diploma or GED, requires ten (10) years of experience with managed care contracts and provider relations.

    + If Master’s degree, requires zero (0) year of experience

    Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

    + **Experience with physician or hospital contract modeling in a payer or provider environment**

    + **Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS coding and common payment methodologies.**

    + **Knowledge of UNC Health systems, payer relationships, or North Carolina healthcare market dynamics.**
