Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of an Energy Resource Specialist III Supervisor in the Data Collection Analysis Unit within the Energy Assessments Division (EAD), the incumbent independently performs at the full journeyperson level varied, complex, technical, and analytical work on the topics of energy cost frameworks, historical energy use, end-use surveys, energy consumption and economic and demographic data sets and information regarding energy use in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. These data contribute to more detailed and accurate energy demand forecasts and provide a basis from which California’s policy and decision makers can review, assess, revise, and enact California energy policy.
Incumbent will lead development of an interagency coordination for the AB 3264 framework to assess, track, and analyze total annual energy costs paid by residential households in California in consultation with state agencies and stakeholders, conducting analyses, and developing data collection. Conduct analyses and develop insights into energy demand (including electricity demand) and energy costs for households in the state and to use the results to inform broader strategies to achieve statewide goals to reduce GHG emissions, while promoting adequacy of electricity generation system needs and public health and safety. Identify possible electrical generation system needs, impacts, and opportunities that are in alignment with California’s clean energy goals.

Working Conditions
The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.
Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. Occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division.
