Job Responsibilities/Duties
Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

H2C is seeking a Field Operations Support Radiological Controls Manager. This individual will provide leadership to ensure radiological compliance in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations which affect the Field Ops Radiological Control organization at H2C as well as Direct First Line Managers, Health Physics professionals, and/or Radiological Control Technicians to ensure sound radiation protection practices are accomplished. Manages the RadCon departmental activities in accordance with company work management policy and procedures. Directs resources in accordance with project schedule commitments. This position requires knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Tank Farm work practices and processes, and 10 CFR 385. Decisions made and actions taken can have a visibility/impact on the successful achievement of company goals.
Under general managerial oversight, promotes a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the H2C mission, vision, and values, based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Implements Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and Environmental Management System (EMS) responsibilities in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Effectively leads team members including establishing arrangements that allow them to perform effectively in their role.
Manages assigned scope and subordinates by ensuring adequate resources are provided, assigning and tracking tasks, evaluating personnel performance and providing professional development opportunities.
Mentors, trains, coaches and counsels' staff in the effective development and delivery of assigned programs, projects and deliverables.
Identifies opportunities for improvement, including professional development, training, ongoing review or work products/deliverables, and adjustments to schedule.
Ensures adherence to all contract requirements and applicable state/federal regulations as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Grade 21:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 12 years' directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Grade 22:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 15 years' directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Desired Qualifications
- National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate a pattern of continuing improvement in the radiological field
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $142,038
Hiring Range Maximum: $209,688
