    Job Description

    The General Maritime Outside Machinist is responsible to the General Maritime Outside Machinist Supervisor for the completion of contracted items such as, removal and installation of main propulsion shafting/waterjet systems and associated components, main reduction gears, rudders, bow thrusters, Z-Drives, diesel engines, generators, various pumps and associated components, air compressors, system coolers/heat exchangers, valves and associated operators, deck equipment such as winches, sliding padeyes, and anchor windlass.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Making requests and providing input to the department manager on the hiring of new team members.

     

    Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.

     

    Provide the effort to ensure the team achieves their daily production goals.

     

    Work to continuously improve in all areas as related to the Maritime Outside Machinist Craft. Safe use of tools and equipment.

     

    Superior production output in accordance with specifications.

     

    Identify issues in efficiency and productivity and suggest improvements to the supervisor. Track their own individual timekeeping.

     

    Perform Inspections and checkpoints as required.

     

    Document, material condition/issues and report to Supervisor.

     

    Respond quickly and practically to emergencies, crises, or unexpected problems.

     

    Report ongoing issues or problems to Supervisor.

     

    Other duties as assigned, including special projects.

     

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    **Required** :

     

    Minimum High school diploma or GED.

     

    Minimum 3-year commercial vessel repair and maintenance experience.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND REQUIREMENTS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

    Lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs.

     

    Frequent standing up to 100%

     

    Ability to use hands and fingers for grasping, pinching, pulling, pushing; rotating fingers, wrists, and hands; manipulation of tools, components and equipment

     

    Ability to identify parts read understand and communicate blueprint information.

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $44720 - $78520

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
