Hunton Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator with strong plan-and-spec expertise. Design/build experience is also highly valuable. This role is essential in delivering accurate estimates, developing scopes, and supporting successful project execution across institutional, educational, commercial, and industrial markets.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Partner with building owners and account managers to provide turnkey estimates for HVAC projects.

+ Leverage internal and external resources to deliver optimal value to customers.

+ Manage the entire bid process-from scope development through the job kickoff meeting, including job site visits.

+ Analyze project documents to identify requirements, scope, schedules, non-standard work conditions, risk factors, material/equipment needs, and compliance considerations.

+ Investigate systems and equipment as needed to prepare accurate cost estimates.

+ Perform take-offs and price purchased equipment, ensuring accurate quantities, sizing, configurations, voltages, and options.

+ Identify cost-saving opportunities and risk items; stay current with industry standards to maintain a competitive advantage.

+ Create detailed scope documents: system sketches, scope definitions, exceptions/exclusions, subcontractor/vendor quotes, and point lists.

+ Use estimating software to take off piping, ductwork, equipment, and miscellaneous materials; develop labor and material cost estimates.

+ Build complete estimates with detailed breakdowns, budgets, and schedules of values for AIA billing.

+ Maintain strong customer relationships with professional, proactive communication and conflict-resolution skills.

+ Represent Hunton Services in customer and engineering meetings.

+ Communicate clearly with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.

+ Support Project Managers with document compliance, supplier selection, submittals, RFIs, bulletins, pricing, and negotiations.

+ Provide technical guidance and help resolve project issues.

+ Coordinate and respond to changes from the original scope.

+ Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed.

+ Plan/Spec Projects

+ Review and interpret plans and specifications.

+ Evaluate bid documents to identify scope, schedule impacts, safety/compliance requirements, and special conditions.

+ Design/Build Projects

+ Understand customer needs and help develop effective, turnkey solutions.

+ Collaborate with engineering and internal resources to propose and evaluate system options.

+ Act as a key contributor in the development of design/build proposals.

Qualifications:

+ Strong teamwork skills with the ability to lead or support team efforts.

+ Thorough understanding of system sizing, calculations, and capacities-including duct/pipe sizing, equipment selection, design/coordination drawings, and code compliance.

+ Experience using RS Means or similar estimating tools.

+ Excellent math, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills.

+ Detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, OneNote, and Outlook.

Preferred Experience:

+ Associate degree or formal training in a related field, plus 5 years of HVAC estimating experience.

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience.

+ 7+ years of HVAC estimating experience.

+ Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
