    Sterling Industrial, headquartered in Evansville, Indiana was founded and incorporated in 1982. Our company began and grew from a need for swift, reliable service for utilities in southern Indiana. Meeting the needs of utilities through small emergencies, we found an increasing need to add pipefitters and millwrights to our operation, and from there our company continued to grow.

     

    As a multi-craft union contractor, we provide civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical services for new construction and maintenance/retrofit projects. Our core markets include power generation, metals, pulp/paper, plastics, and chemical markets. We pride ourselves on being a full-service contractor attentive and responsive to the needs of our customers; providing a full range of services and solutions for construction and maintenance projects.

    Core Responsibilities:

    + Manage all Strategic and Key Craft programs.

    + Develop and maintain a craft database for Key and Strategic Craft with the assistance of Ops Admin.

    + Track and manage all craft uplift/wage rates above bargaining rates.

    + Work with payroll and finance to confirm wages and benefits when sending craft out of jurisdiction.

    + Arrange and manage all COS (Change of Status) and PAL (Project Assignment Letters).

    + Manage all per diem for craft.

    + Ensure rates are correct for region and taxes are considered.

    + Be involved in resolving payroll issues for craft.

    + Research regions for wage and tax compliance.

    + Coordinate with Dispatchers when craft are to be sent out of jurisdiction

    Retention & Development:

    + Develop and manage a review process for Strategic and Key Craft.

    + Develop and manage craft apprenticeship retention plan.

    + Create retention programs for craft.

    + Develop and help conduct annual reviews with each Key and Strategic Craft.

    + Locate key apprentices and create strategies to retain them for Sterling.

    + Develop and manage programs to recruit apprentices.

    + Coordinate vocational training.

    Training & Certifications:

    + Track and manage all Sterling related training for craft.

    + Track and manage all certifications for craft.

    + Help coordinate training for Sterling Craft.

    Resource & Technology Management:

    + Manage Procore Resource Management tool (future).

    + Monitor vehicles utilized by craft (who is in a vehicle and should they be).
