    Sterling Industrial, headquartered in Evansville, Indiana was founded and incorporated in 1982. Our company began and grew from a need for swift, reliable service for utilities in southern Indiana.     Power Generation and Heavy Industry Markets

    Commercial and Institutional Markets :

    In addition to the Power Generation and Heavy Industrial markets, Sterling Industrial provides new construction and maintenance services for the Building Construction and Institutional market sectors. We have performed new construction work for pre-engineered buildings, concrete foundations, structural and ornamental installation, plumbing, electrical, and architectural finish work on commercial/institutional applications such as offices, banks, stores/malls, schools, churches, and warehouses. Additionally, we provide maintenance and repair services for the same type of facilities. Skilled craftsmen are employed in providing these services including carpenters (form and finish), laborers, cement finishers, ironworkers, plumbers, and electricians.

    Position Summary

    Manages the effective and timely procurement of goods and services to meet the needs of the Estimating and Operating Units, ensuring compliance with operational procurement policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Contract Administration:

    • Develop documentation to ensure scope, notices, terms and conditions are included within estimate solicitations and supplier contracts

    Procurement Strategy:

    • Lead and develop the Project Procurement Plan and ensure its implementation reflects the company and project strategy.

    • Procuring Sustainably to securing the best value supply of materials and services at a consistent quality at reasonable cost

    • Leveraging Sterling buying power relationships and expertise to ensure all materials and services are supplied at the lowest total cost of ownership

    • Compliance with company strategy on supply chain management

    Prequalification and Sourcing:

    • Ensure all recommended trade contractors/ goods/service providers have been subject to the Sterling prequalification process and all suppliers are approved before use.

    • Work with Estimating to develop tender lists and supplier/trade contractor selection lists

    Project Procurement and Contract Administration:

    • Lead the development of project strategies for the procurement of trade contractors, goods and services

    • Lead and develop the procurement procedures for the package scope, quantification, tender method, negotiation and subcontract documentation

    • Facilitate the cross transfer of knowledge and expertise across different projects/sectors/divisions of the business

    • Lead the management of procurement progress against strategy and program. Assist Estimating and Operations Units with mid tender review meetings where appropriate and ensure all RFI's are responded to efficiently and that tenders are returned with the period required

    • Assist Estimating and Operations Units with the appraisal of tender returns and ensure recommendations are forwarded to the relevant parties in line with the procurement program, ensuring final decisions are fully informed

    • Ensure material and contract requisitions are processes in a timely and professional manner and that orders and placed for the correct goods/services in line with the project procurement strategy

    • Assist with review, edits and execution of contracts with clients for individual projects and master service agreements.

    • Work with Operations and Estimating Units to negotiate contracts terms and pricing with clients and suppliers for individual projects.

    • Work with corporate counsel to develop flow-down terms for subcontracts and purchase orders for individual projects.

    • Implement a preferred vendor program for consistent pricing and delivery of commodities across the company supply chain.

    • Work with Operations to maintain central file of executed documents, change orders, lien waivers and contract close-out documents.

    Risk and Opportunity Management:

    • Lead and develop the risk management philosophy for the project and ensure this is cascaded to all project levels to include trades contracts

    Project Management:

    • Ensure the projects adherence to the Sterling trade contractor / Supplier pre-qualification (PQQ)

    • Support the project team in the preparation of package enquiry documents and ensure all procurement related issues are addressed

    • Lead the issuing of tender information to comply with the procurement strategy and program

    Education/Experience

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customer

    • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office –Word, Excel, and Outlook)

    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard practices

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or construction management preferred

    Physical Demands

    • Travel will be required to attend trainings and meetings

    • Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift

    • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb

    • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

    • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance

    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

    • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly

    • Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing, and keyboard operations
