Overview
To assist the Judge in the administration of court operations . To insure the efficient and accurate operation of the Court. *This is not a security position* There are several positions available for this Court. Salary depends on the position and applicable experience.
Position Responsibilities
+ Prepares pleadings and monitors court files for court sessions and/or the Judge’s rulings.
+ Assists judicial officers and staff during court proceedings, both in-person or remote hearings, including: calling cases; monitoring the audio recording equipment; creating and maintaining log notes; accepting, marking and maintaining evidence.
+ Coordinates and assists with jurors during jury trials.
+ Updates cases within the case management system, and completing work in the assigned queues.
+ Answers court telephones and responds to questions from court representatives, attorneys and the general public.
+ Assists with the effective management of the court calendar through confirmation of hearings with attorneys.
+ Some courts require the following duties and responsibilities: create orders, relevent documents and jury instructions; prepare correspondence and distribute as required by the court; assist with the scheduling of cases on the court calendar.
+ Assists with other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required with college course work, administrative experience and/or paralegal training preferred, as is knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and civil and/or criminal procedures. Proven computer skills required. Knowledge and use of proper grammar and spelling is essential, as is the ability to multi-task, think independently and meet strict deadlines is essential.
Marion County Residency is required within six months of employment.
Salary enhancements for advanced education and proven bi-lingual skills available. Salary is based on applicable experience.
