*PAY RANGE:*Accountant I: $52,700 - $65,900
Accountant II: $64,500 – $80,600
Accountant Sr: $72,900 - $97,200
*Scheduled Work Hours: * Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Additional hours as required)
*Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:*
This professional position is responsible for calculating and recording the accounting for various regulated utility transactions and monthly reporting and quantitative and qualitative variance analysis. Also responsible for performing monthly or daily account reconciliations as required. Additionally, responsible to meet the on-going needs of management and compliance with all regulatory, internal and external reporting requirements and deadlines.
• Responsible for ensuring that transactions are recorded correctly in the General Ledger in accordance with FERC rules, State Commission Orders and GAAP accounting pronouncements.
• Prepare account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with regulatory filings for various federal and state jurisdictions and any resulting data requests that arise from those filings.
• Prepare monthly reporting and quantitative and qualitative variance analysis
*Education and Experience Requirements:*
• Bachelor’s degree with an accounting major, CPA or MBA preferred;
• Typically has a minimum of 2-8 years relevant experience;
• Entry-level candidates will be considered;
• Preferred qualifications include utility industry experience and Peoplesoft experience;
• Must possess intermediate proficiency with Excel.
*Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:*
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills in order to solve complex accounting problems.
• Ability to communicate complex accounting calculations and regulatory treatment across the organization.
• Independently research and make recommendations on how to comply with new accounting standards and regulatory orders as well as how to record new energy accounting transactions.
• Work with other groups in the company to ensure that accounting transactions are recorded accurately and find solutions to accounting or system issues that may arise.
• Display initiative and self-reliance with the ability to self-prioritize multiple projects and strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality performance.
• Maintain effective internal controls by developing and following procedures, providing adequate audit trails and maintaining supporting documentation for all aspects of responsibilities.

*Working Conditions: *Normal office working conditions. Flexible work arrangement offered. Must be able to work independently after initial on-boarding/training. Additional hours or weekends might be required to meet necessary reporting requirements. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
