Description
Astronics-PECO, located in Clackamas, Oregon, designs and manufactures highly engineered commercial aerospace interior components and systems for the aerospace industry. We specialize in Passenger Service Units (PSUs) which incorporate air handling, emergency oxygen, electrical power management and cabin lighting systems. We also manufacture a wide range of fuel tank access doors that meet stringent strength, fuel sealing and anti-corrosion requirements.
We are adding a **Buyer III** to our team. In this role you will be working in a complex manufacturing environment. To be most successful in this role you will need to have extensive experience in a highly regulated industry evaluating potential suppliers and creating long term relationships.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Prepares and monitors purchase orders and procures materials to support production plans; interacts with Planners, Production/Assembly, Engineering, Suppliers and subcontractors to ensure procurement of materials within approved schedules and quality specifications.
+ Evaluate, establish, nurture, and maintain stable working relationships with suppliers.
+ Create and execute material plans and sourcing strategies
+ Conduct on-site audits and supplier business reviews
+ Work on the new product introduction (NPI) team
+ Identify and mitigate potential parts shortages.
+ Communicate quality requirements to suppliers.
+ Determine and execute inventory strategy for specific components
+ Advises Planning of delays and works to resolve material shortage issues. Finds long-term solutions to reduce expedites and premium freight.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Experiences:
+ Bachelor's degree in business or related field, and 5-7 years of production purchasing experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
+ ASCM and/or ISM certifications, preferred.
+ Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, preferred.
+ Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, preferred.
+ International sourcing experience, required.
+ Skill with Microsoft Office software including advanced Excel, Word, and presentation graphics.
+ Proven ability to create, negotiate & execute supplier agreements.
+ Experience managing custom PCB or cable harness assemblies, preferred
+ Ability and willingness to travel to conduct on-site supplier audits, may include international travel up to 10% of the time.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work in team environment.
+ Knowledge of lean / throughput techniques and MRP theory and concepts.
+ Proven experience in using MRP to manage inventory and minimize production down-time.
