**Overview:** This R&D specialist position is in Molecular Conversions unit under Innovation department of Technology Projects and Execution (TPE) organization and provides technology and services across the enterprise. This position is located at Chevron’s Richmond Technology Center.
The researcher will lead R&D in process and catalyst development for Chevron, advancing low-carbon energy and refining technologies from concept to commercialization and generating intellectual property. This is a safety sensitive position.
Responsibility for this position may include but not limited to:
+ Use knowledge of chemical reaction principles to develop new concepts, innovate new catalysts and/or process configurations
+ Design and oversee lab scale catalyst synthesis work
+ Design, operate and troubleshoot experimental units of various scales which may operate at elevated temperature & pressure (>500F and >1000 psig) and involve potentially toxic chemicals and a broad variety of materials from petroleum and renewable sources
+ Design and manage testing programs across multiple scales, including parallel testing units, bench-scale units, research units, as well as pilot and demonstration-scale operations
+ Drive the progress of technical programs in catalyst development and catalyst systems optimization, process development and augmentation, as well as technical service for commercial operations
+ Proactively engage customers to identify gaps and assess new technology needs; create appropriate programs to fill those needs in a timely and cost-effective fashion
+ Interpret and present experimental results and research progress in written and/or orally
+ Work in a multi-disciplinary team and interact with other scientists and engineers as well as customers from business units and external stakeholders if necessary
+ Rigorously upholding laboratory safety and compliance policies
Required Qualifications:
+ Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Material Science or related fields
+ Ph.D. curriculum must include study of heterogeneous catalysis or chemical reaction or an equivalent field
+ Up to 5 years of relevant work experience in Catalyst and Process Development
+ Hands-on experimental and laboratory experience in catalyst related testing
+ Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously with solid problem-solving skills
+ Strong commitment to Operational Excellence in lab, office, and field operation environment
+ Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
+ Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Preferred Qualification:
+ Experience in hydrotreating and hydrocracking catalyst and process
+ Process scale-up and deployment experience
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues outside their immediate work group.

+ The anticipated salary range for this position is $116,800 – $200,400. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
