    Position Description:

    Employee will support the research core laboratory. Responsibilities include ensuring the ethical, safe and high-quality

     

    handling of human specimens through detailed processing, storage, documentation of the samples, as well as the overall cleanliness of the laboratory and laboratory equipment, and ordering and maintaining an adequate stock of necessary supplies. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances. May instruct or direct work of subordinate laboratory personnel.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + Obtain informed consent from research participants/patients in accordance to study protocols.

    + Ensure compliance within the IRB protocol and necessary documentation.

    + Actively work to recruit clinics and physicians with patient pool who potentially fall within the premise of the study.

    + Support and maintain the biorepository operations.

    + Collect and document human tissue samples.

    + Perform quality control assessments on specimens.

    + Record and maintain electronic sample data and processing details (Freezer works).

    + Maintain and assist with the operation and upkeep of flow cytometry equipment.

    + Responsible for routine laboratory maintenance and ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety standards.

    + Order, receive and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.

    + Remain current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory compliance and training requirements for this position.

    + Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSCEP OPs, etc.).

    + Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.

    + Perform all other duties as assigned.
