    PAID INTERNSHIP: $23.00/Hour

    Target 11-week Internship Dates: 5/18/26 – 7/30/26

     

    (4-10 work schedule M-Th 7am - 5:30pm) Some flexibility with scheduled hours. May have the opportunity for one day a week remote work (conditions apply).

     

    The Communications Intern will support CAP’s internal and external efforts to increase awareness of CAP and Colorado River issues. This role is designed for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in external communications including media relations, paid placement, and social media management, and internal communications including intranet management, internal campaign development and internal consultancy. This internship will also have opportunity to support web and graphic design and video production.

     

    The intern will work closely with the Communications team to create compelling content and contribute to the overall communications strategy.

    Position Responsibilities

    Position Responsibilities

    + Paid Placement - Assist with planning, executing, and tracking paid placements across digital platforms. Conduct research on target audiences, competitors, and media outlets to inform placement strategies. Support reporting and performance analysis of placements.

    + Social Media – Help plan, draft, and schedule content for social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, X and (with emphasis) Instagram. Monitor engagement, track analytics, and identify opportunities to increase reach and visibility.

    + Media Relations – Observe media relations interactions. Research media outlets, prepare reporter pitches. Assist in monitoring press coverage and preparing daily In the News compilations. Support coordination of press announcements as needed.

    + Graphic Design – Shadow Web & Graphic Designer and if able, create graphics and visual digital assets for all platforms using Adobe or Canva. Develop understanding of brand design guidelines and help update if needed. Assist with updating PowerPoint presentations as needed.

    + Photography & Videography - Assist with planning and filming short-form and long-form video content

    + General Communications Support - Help draft articles, prepare newsletters, and update website content. Contribute creative ideas for campaigns, storytelling, and audience engagement. Provide administrative and project support to the Communications team.

    Through working in a professional communications environment and contributing to real-world projects, by the end of the internship the intern will gain experience in:

    + Developing and executing strategic communications plans.

    + Building relationships with media and understanding media industry.

    + Creating and analyzing paid placement campaigns.

    + Producing engaging digital content and managing social platforms.

    + Capturing visual assets and producing video content.

    + Junior or higher-level student (or recent graduate) majoring in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Design, Video Production, or a related field.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and experience with design and video editing software including Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva a plus.

    + Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

    + Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.

    + Creativity, curiosity, and willingness to learn new tools and communication techniques.

    + Must submit transcripts (unofficial or official) with the online application.
