The role of the Bar Manager is to remain innovated and engaged towards the progression of services at Tank, our signature Bar at Paws Up. This role requires a refined understanding of luxury service, a strong sense of creativity in mixology, and the ability to curate a beverage program that complements our elevated Montana culinary identity.

The ideal candidate will be an engaging leader, passionate about the guest experience, team member development, and excellence in beverage execution – from signature cocktails crafted with local ingredients to world-class wine and spirits selections.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

+ Recruit, train, and mentor team members to deliver polished, anticipatory, and genuine service

+ Develop and maintain an innovative cocktail and beverage program that show cases regional influences and premium ingredients

+ Welcomes and educates guests by presenting and explaining the beverage menu, answers any questions

+ Prepare tables with special attention to sanitation and presentation

+ Greeting guests upon entrance using surnames immediately upon arrival

+ Present menus and help guests select food/beverages

+ Answer questions pertaining to the restaurant menus and offerings

+ Promote featured drinks and wine list

+ Keep up-to-date knowledge on all menu items including preparation, any allergens, and alternative preparations; communicate food restrictions to Food & Beverage team

+ Knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, espresso, and classic cocktails

+ Converse with the guests at a high level, being aware of their needs and fulfill special guest requests as instructed by management or the guest directly

+ Assist with guest service issues accurately and promptly; Communicate effectively with Team Leaders to assist

+ Maintain up-to-date awareness of Paws Up information and amenities

+ Work in collaboration with other team members to deliver guests’ expectations

+ Maintain a clean, well-organized bar and workstation

+ Manage inventory, purchasing, and cost control, maintaining profitability without compromising quality

+ Remain up to date by participating in educational opportunities regarding beer, wine and liquor trends

+ Lead the creation of seasonal drink menus and guest experiences (whiskey tastings, mixology classes, etc.)

+ Complete knowledge of all functions regarding bar management

+ Maintain table settings, cleanliness, and service throughout the course of the meal

+ Uphold and enforce compliance with state liquor laws, regulations, and Paws Up policies

+ Perform any and all duties as assigned by Beverage Director

Supportive Functions and Responsibilities

+ Always display hospitality and professionalism to our guests and team members. Take pride in representing Paws Up professionally and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal, ethical, and confidential manner

+ Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with a focus on staff training, morale, and guest satisfaction

+ Always maintain a clean and neat appearance

+ Perform work in a safe and high-quality manner

Educational, Experience, Licensure Required

+ Minimum 5 years of progressive bar management experience in a luxury resort, fine dining, or high-end hospitality setting

+ Strong business acumen with demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, ad cost management

+ Valid Food Handler’s License

+ TIPS certification

+ Valid State Driver’s License

+ Proficient ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and prioritizing workload throughout the day
