The*Rehabilitation and Programs Division*ensures the physical and mental well-being of inmates, delivers educational and vocational opportunities within prisons, and oversees community facilities dedicated to successfully reintegrating offenders into Montana communities. The*Rehabilitative & Enterprise Division Deputy Chief*assists the Division Chief in providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the broad portfolio of offender focused services and institutional and community corrections support functions. The Deputy Chief is directly responsible for daily oversight and leadership of the Program Services Bureau, the Education Services Bureau, and the Community Corrections Facilities & Programs Bureau. These three Bureaus focus on advancing DOC’s rehabilitative mission through services provided to inmates and residents at all DOC-operated and community-contracted facilities. The position involves overseeing offender education and behavioral programming, case management, and community corrections engagement. Leadership and strategy responsibilities include providing vision for division bureaus and aligning goals with Public Safety and DOC objectives, while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. Collaboration within the division, other DOC divisions, and stakeholders aims at conceptualizing and operating value-add programs. Additionally, the position supervises, fosters empowerment, and manages a team to achieve DOC’s mission. Required skills include trust-building, leadership, communication, and the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects. The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: * Bachelor’s degree in public administration, criminal justice business, education, or related field. * 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in corrections, public administration, or related field.. * Demonstrated experience managing complex programs, multidisciplinary teams, and large budgets. Preferred: * Experience with a correctional system environment. * Familiarity with Montana state government systems and processes.
