    Job Description

    Perform activities related to inpatient and outpatient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorization, pre-certification, financial clearance process, chart preparation and advising patients of their financial responsibility. Refer uninsured or underinsured patients to the facilitated enrollers for assistance. Additional responsibilities include interviewing patients/guarantors to obtain demographic and confidential clinical and financial information necessary to appropriately schedule, register, obtain treatment authorizations and verify insurance eligibility and corresponding benefit levels. Critical to this position is the ability to gather and record all appropriate information that supports the groundwork for the remaining or future fiscal efforts of Kaleida Health.

     

    Education And Credentials

     

    High School Diploma.

    Experience

    One year experience in medical billing, registration, customer service or other health care finance position required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Customer Service experience is defined as having experience dealing directly with the public by phone and/or in person, on a regular basis, to address their immediate needs and/or to investigate/analyze/resolve customer concerns. Successfully complete the data entry, customer service and clerical skills assessment. Requires organizational and problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical billing preferred. Requires the ability to handle stressful situations and utilize appropriate resources. Must be able to operate general office and communications equipment, embossers, copy machines, fax machines, etc
