    The Johns Hopkins Individualized Health Initiative ( Hopkins inHealth ) is a University-wide, collaborative venture to: discover new ways to more precisely define, measure, and communicate each patient's unique health state and the trajectory along which it is changing; assess the expected benefits and harms of interventions; and develop these discoveries into tools that improve public health and medical decisions.

     

    As part of this initiative, we are inviting application for one or two-year Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Division of Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins University. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with statisticians Scott Zeger and Ji Soo Kim and physician scientist Ami Shah, Director Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins and a statistician at University of Utah (Yizhen Xu) to develop statistical methods and software for subsetting auto-immune disease patients into more nearly homogeneous groups based upon clinical and biomarker data not limited to electronic health records (EHR), statistical genetics and genomics, and proteomics data. The current approach is to use Bayesian hierarchical models to integrate data and cluster patients. Alternative approaches will be studied in this collaborative group. Fellows are encouraged to collaborate broadly in this dynamic intellectual environment for junior investigators to grow and develop their future career.

     

    We are looking for exceptional applicants with solid statistical and computational expertise. The selected applicant will be offered competitive compensation along with access to computing resources, travel funds, and additional benefits consistent with department and university guidelines.

    The ideal applicant should have for the following qualification:

    1. A PhD degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

    2. Strong methodological and computational skills.

    3. Creativity, enthusiasm, and good written and oral communication skills.

    4. Interest in working on health problems, but prior experience not required.

     

    Salary: $50,000 - $62,000 per year
