Position Definition: To participate as aSenior Network Engineerof the Information Technology team as the support resource for the CLIU network. This position provides Tier 3 support. Relationship: TheSeniorNetwork Engineershall be directly responsible to the Director of Management Information Systems for the performance of assigned responsibilities. Qualifications: Education/Experience:
+ A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent related professional experience.
+ Four (4) years’ experience in support of local and wide area network infrastructure.
+ Three (3) years’ experience with NT4/2000/Netware/Unix/Linux system administration and LAN/WAN operations.
+ Two (2) years’ experience in direct management responsibility for local and wide area network.
Skills/Knowledge:
+ Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of local and wide area network, management, operations, and administrations; Windows, Apple, Linux, Google, 100-40G switched Ethernet, and network management software; multi-protocol network administration; Windows platforms; and Cisco IOS.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of network-based applications software.
+ Demonstrates a proficient understanding and utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages for use in the MIS Department.
+ Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.
+ Demonstrates the ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
+ Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated by patience, understanding, and congeniality.
+ Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.

+ Ensures workstation connectivity to any networked resource vis-à-vis the first three layers of the OSI model.
+ Manages the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade of network cabling, hubs, switches, routers, and related equipment and software.
+ Collects and evaluates system performance statistics and provides timely recommendations for system improvements and changes based on this data.
+ Manages user security as it pertains to user access to the infrastructure.
+ Maintains an accurate inventory of all items related to the network infrastructure, including cables, hubs, switches, and routers.
+ Provides timely recommendations concerning the application of new and existing technology to improve the services delivered via the network infrastructure.
+ Serves as a resource for the Information Technology staff for issues involving the network.
+ Accomplishes assignments within a specified time frame and attendance is reliable.
+ Provides timely recommendations concerning the application of new and existing technology to improve the services delivered via videoconference.
+ Manages the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade of videoconference and related equipment and software.
+ Responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives.
+ Maintains effective cooperative relationships with other members of the Information Technology staff, as well as other members of the District team and faculty.
Secondary:
+ Researches new products and accurately reports findings.
