    Financial Aid Specialist 1

     

    Status: Part-time

     

    Hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

     

    Pay/Salary: $17.56 /Hour

    Summary

    At Mountainland Technical College (MTECH), you’ll serve as a vital resource, helping students unlock opportunities and reach their academic and professional goals. By helping students navigate financial aid, scholarships, and Veterans' benefits, you'll play a crucial role in making education accessible and affordable. Your work will directly support students in overcoming financial barriers, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to succeed.

    What You'll Do:

    As a vital member of the Financial Aid Office, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    + Guiding students and their families through financial aid options with clarity, empathy, and accuracy.

    + Reviewing financial aid applications and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations.

    + Assessing eligibility and awarding aid packages to meet students' individual financial needs.

    + Communicating effectively via email, phone, online platforms, and in-person to address questions and concerns.

    + Maintaining accurate and confidential records of financial aid applications, awards, and disbursements.

    + Resolving financial aid issues, including discrepancies, appeals, and special circumstances, with professionalism and discretion.

    + Actively participating in the Scholarship Committee to help determine scholarship recipients and celebrate student achievement.

    + Flexible in adapting to changing needs and student circumstances.

    + Ethical integrity and adherence to regulatory compliance.

    + Your work ensures that every student has a fair opportunity to receive support, stay in school, and complete their education.

    What We're Looking For:

    + Education Requirements: A high school diploma or the equivalent.

    + Experience: At least one year of experience in customer service. A minimum of one year of experience in financial services, banking, or bookkeeping.

    + Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.), and data management systems.

    + Organizational Abilities: Strong skills in time management, multitasking, and organization to efficiently handle multiple responsibilities.

    + Attention to Detail: Sharp problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in daily tasks.
