    Job Description

    **AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical and Plumbing Inspector to support complex building construction projects with a strong focus on quality, safety, and compliance.** This role plays a critical part in ensuring mechanical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with contract documents, industry standards, and applicable codes. The ideal candidate brings deep field experience, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and government stakeholders to proactively identify issues, enforce quality expectations, and support successful project closeout.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    + Inspect mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for compliance with contract requirements and industry standards.

    + Identify and report non-conformances, coordinating with contractors and engineers to implement corrective actions.

    + Conduct Labor Interviews with contractor and subcontractor employees periodically to verify that workers are correctly classified and are being paid the correct wages (DEPENDING ON TRADE).

    + Immediately notify the construction contractor, the COR, or other GSA officials if a potentially life-threatening safety condition is observed.

    + Inspectors shall promptly report, in writing, progress and observed variances from the contract requirements through daily reports saved to the Owner’s preferred Project Management Information System (PMIS).

    + Monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring proper functionality and performance.

    + Oversee corrective actions for unacceptable construction work.

    + Support final inspections, punch lists, and project closeouts and make sure all mechanical systems meet regulatory and contractual requirements.

    + Verify that tests are conducted as scheduled, witness selected tests, checking test results, if required, oversee retesting, and retain test records.

    + Verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and equipment installations to ensure adherence to project specifications.

    + Witness and document critical tests, such as pressure tests, leak tests, and system start-ups.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    + HS + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    + Eight (8) years building construction experience with emphasis on Quality Assurance/Quality Control with oversight responsibility for mechanical/HVAC, plumbing systems.

    + Knowledge of local and national codes

    + Knowledge of construction methods and techniques.

    Preferred Requirements:

    + Experience working on federal and high education managed construction projects

    + Experience in reviewing contractor shop drawings and submittals

    + Experience working in and around historic properties and occupied modernizations are desirable

    + OSHA 10-hour training certification

    + Certified Construction Quality Manager for Contractors (CQM-C) preferred

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software

    + Experience working with federal Project Management Systems

    Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $100000 to $120000.
